Mare cristallino, atmosfera familiare: in certi luoghi un po’ decadente, ma dall’inconfondibile fascino del Sud.
La prima vacanza dell’estate 2014 l’ho trascorsa in Calabria, dove il sole, la cucina e i colori del mare la fanno da padroni.
Terra non sempre valorizzata purtroppo, ma che si lascia scoprire solo da chi ha veramente voglia di conoscerla e di coglierne il sapore autentico.
Ho così piacevolmente passeggiato tra le vie di San Marco Argentano (CS), borgo di antica storia della Provincia di Cosenza che vanta una torre normanna fatta innalzare nel 1048. Già da bambina, durante le vacanze estive, apprezzavo i prodotti delle sue colline: dai profumati agrumi, alle gustose olive, ai dolcissimi fichi che si scioglievano in bocca…odori e sapori che restano indelebili nella mia memoria.
Ho rivisto Diamante, con i suoi splendidi murales alle pareti delle case, l’insuperabile granita al cedro, l’isola di Cirella e la bellissima passeggiata.
Sono tornata a Cetraro, alle grotte di Rizzo, dove l’acqua è così trasparente da potercisi specchiare.
Ho visitato per la prima volta Tropea, indiscussa perla del mediterraneo, con le sue case appoggiate su maestosa roccia di tufo. Il bianco-farina della spiaggia contrasta con il verde smeraldo del suo mare…e li, accoccolati su una sdraio si può godere l’indimenticabile tramonto del sole inghiottito dalla bocca dello Stromboli.
Una settimana vola via in fretta, ma le emozioni che mi porto in valigia resteranno a lungo incise nel mio cuore. E concludo questo lunghissimo post con una riflessione: scoprire l’Italia è un piacere, ma anche un dovere conoscerla per saperla raccontare. E la Calabria merita di essere raccontata.

Sea, family atmosphere: in some places a little decadent, but the unmistakable charm of the South.
The first holiday I spent the summer of 2014 in Calabria, where the sun, cooking and the colors of the sea are fantastic.
Country not always appreciated, unfortunately, but that can be discovered only by those who truly desire to know and to grasp the authentic flavor.
I so pleasantly strolled through the streets of San Marco Argentano (CS), a village of ancient history of the Province of Cosenza made a Norman tower which boasts raise in 1048. Already as a child, during the summer holidays, I appreciated the products of the hills: from fragrant citrus, tasty olives, the sweet figs that melted in your mouth … smells and tastes that remain indelible in my memory.
I have reviewed Diamante, with its beautiful murals on the walls of the houses, unsurpassed granita cedar, the island of Cirella and the beautiful promenade.
I’m back in Cetraro, to the caves of Rizzo, where the water is so transparent that you can mirror.
I visited for the first time Tropea, the undisputed jewel of the Mediterranean, with its stately houses resting on the tufa rock. The white-flour beach contrasts with the green emerald of the sea … and there, squatting on a deck you can enjoy the unforgettable sunset swallowed by the mouth of Stromboli.
A week flies away quickly, but the emotions that i carry on suitcase will remain long in my heart. And I conclude this long post with one thought: to discover Italy is a pleasure, but also a duty to know to tell it. And the Calabria deserves to be told.
